Police in Japan have released dashcam footage from a passenger car that was attacked by a brown bear in northern Hokkaido prefecture. The incident took place on Tuesday, when the two bears – believed to be a mother and cub – were seen running along the side of a road before the larger bear darted in front of the vehicle. It then slammed its body against the car’s bonnet, before running away with the cub. One person was travelling in the vehicle, according to public broadcaster NHK. No injuries were reported by the motorists and it was unclear whether the bears were hurt.
