Beijing accuses Philippine defence chief of ‘grandstanding’

China has accused Philippine officials of “grandstanding” after Manila’s defence secretary publicly read aloud a Chinese diplomat’s note reiterating Beijing’s stance on the South China Sea arbitration. Gilberto Teodoro described the incident, which happened at the Seoul Defence Dialogue on Tuesday, as “coercion, bullying and aggression”.
