Indonesia’s Anak Krakatoa volcano erupted continuously for three days, beginning with an initial blast late Friday night. The nation’s meteorological agency reported two significant eruptions on Sunday that sent volcanic ash more than 150km (83 miles) away and across five provinces. Residents in the capital Jakarta were among those finding homes and cars covered in ashfall. Eight airports in the country were forced to suspend operations, stranding more than 170,000 passengers.
