The anti-corruption campaign has been President Xi Jinping’s signature policy since he rose to power in the autumn of 2012. Xi has linked fighting corruption to the Communist Party’s ability to stay in power and, more than a decade on, the campaign continues apace.
The South China Morning Post took a deep dive into the cases of the top officials, known as “tigers”, brought down between 2013 and 2025 to see what those investigations could tell us about the crusade. Most of these officials were at least vice-ministers and all were investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) – China’s top anti-corruption watchdog.
