On October 17, 2025, China’s Ministry of National Defense released a brief announcement of just over 500 characters, yet it shocked the entire political and military system. In that statement, nine senior generals were expelled from the Communist Party, stripped of their military status, and handed over to the Military Procuratorate. The most notable names were He Weidong — Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission — and Miao Hua — Member of the Commission and Director of the General Political Department. Given their rank and position, this was nothing short of a collective beheading of generals in peacetime.
