The Chinese Communist Party said Friday that it has purged several top military officials from its party ranks and core government units, including general He Weidong, formerly China’s second-highest ranking general. The removals come ahead of a major CCP meeting on Oct. 20. He was reported to have close ties with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
