Cambodia unveils new Chinese-built airport

A US$2 billion Chinese-built airport in Cambodia opened on September 9, 2025. It replaces Phnom Penh’s old airport as the capital’s main aviation transport hub. Techo International Airport is the second major airport in Cambodia to open in two years. A US$1.2 billion Chinese-funded terminal near the Angkor Wat temple complex was inaugurated in November 2023.
