Foreign Firms’ Great Retreat from China, Sitting Tight for US to Act

On July 22, Mitsubishi Motors announced that it’s ending its partnership with Shenyang Aerospace Mitsubishi Motors Engine Manufacturing Co., and will no longer run the joint venture’s engine business. They’re selling their 49% stake to a company called Beijing SaiMuXu Technology. This officially marks the end of Mitsubishi’s vehicle production in China. After nearly 50 years in the country, Mitsubishi is pulling out completely.
