At one point, Iran, with strong support from Beijing, prominently showcased its so-called air defense “iron curtain,” missile capabilities, and drone swarms. However, by June 2025, in the face of a joint U.S.-Israel strike, the military system built with over a decade of investment and hundreds of billions in military aid has crumbled. Air defense systems were crippled, command networks were severed, and fewer than a hundred missile launchers remained operational.
