The Chinese Communist Party’s extreme containment measures against COVID-19 have sparked public discontent. This was especially so after the November 24th fire at a high-rise building in Urumqi of Xinjiang. Escape routes being locked and the inability of fire trucks to reach the scene in time due to the blockade of the area, has ultimately resulted in 10 deaths and 9 injuries.
