A group of UK MPs are meeting Taiwanese leaders in Taipei in what is seen as a “thumb in the eye” to China. Their visit is expected to further strain relations between London and Beijing as well as increase tensions across the Taiwan Strait. The MPs are from the House of Commons’ Foreign Affairs Committee and will be in Taiwan for five days to speak with business leaders, politicians, and President Tsai Ing-wen.
