Can you believe it? China’s most advanced VT4 tank has turned out to be such a disappointment on the international market that even Nigeria was seriously let down. In 2019, Nigeria made a significant purchase of 35 VT4 main battle tanks from China. Sounds impressive, right? These tanks, touted as “3.5 generation” advanced tanks, failed to fire during military exercises, leaving Nigerian generals wide-eyed in disbelief. If it takes half an hour to fire a single shell in real combat, the enemy would have likely turned us into barbecue by then.Nigeria’s military leadership was frustrated with the situation.
