China: Economy touted to grow at lowest rate, focus still on defence

China has announced that its defence spending will increase by 7.2 percent. This would be its fastest rise in military spending in four decades. The announcement came as Beijing warned of escalating threats from abroad at its annual National People’s Congress rubber stamp Parliament which is an important window into Beijing’s policies.
