Xi Jinping has ‘broken his word on everything of substance that matters’

Former Labor Senator Stephen Conroy says fundamentally, Chinese President Xi Jinping “can’t be trusted”. Mr Conroy’s remarks come as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to meet Mr Xi during the G20 summit in Bali on Tuesday. “He promised not to militarise South China Sea, he promised to abide by international rules, obligations, in Hong Kong,” Mr Conroy told Sky News Australia. “He’s broken his word on everything of substance that matters.”
