China is the world’s last major economy that’s still committed to the so-called zero-COVID strategy, stamping out any new cases with harsh measures such as lockdowns, mass testing and lengthy quarantines. As the extremely contagious Omicron variant sweeps across the world, experts have been questioning about the heavy price of this strategy. But China still shows no sign of giving it up. On the contrary, it just declared an initial victory in its latest COVID battle in the capital city of Beijing.
